Despite being one of the youngest distilleries in the Caribbean, Foursquare has already come a long way.

The Seale family, so important to the history of rum in Barbados over the last hundred years, began to make their mark with Réginald Léon Seale: at the age of thirteen he was an apprentice blender under his father, and after 43 years he founded R. L. Seale & Co . Limited, starting his own business as a blender, bottler and trader.
Foursquare distillery, in St. Philip, one of the best and most modern distilleries in the Caribbean, produces rum with stills that work under vacuum, reducing the temperature required for boiling thus avoiding "overcooking" the rum and imparting unnatural aromas.
Foursquare was also designed to be energy efficient and has the most advanced recycling and waste disposal system on the island.
Foursquare Distillery produces innovative and complex Rums but without sacrificing the drinkability of the product. Furthermore, the use of different types of barrels, such as ex-sherry, means that Foursquare rums are always soft and round. The distillery produces rum exclusively from molasses and uses two types of stills: pot still and single column. The stills operate under vacuum, which allows distillation to be achieved at a lower temperature (the lower pressure requires less energy). Obviously they are all bottled without added sugar and if an age is indicated it refers to the youngest rum in the blend.
BETWEEN DOORLY & FOURSQUARE
Foursquare Distillery has two main product lines, one labeled Doorly's and one Foursquare. The Foursquare line bottles experimental, limited production editions. Every year Richard gives space to his imagination, often experimenting with unusual refinements such as Madeira, Porto or Calvados. The Doorly's Line, on the other hand, is the backbone of the company. They are the best-selling rums in Barbados and follow a precise recipe, the result of experience refined over the years.
DOORLY'S
Doorly's is Barbados' historic brand with ancient origins. To better control taxation in 1906 the Barbados government passed the Rum Duty Act (now fortunately repealed) which forced distilleries to resell rum exclusively in barrels, prohibiting them from reselling them in containers smaller than 37 liters (10 gallons). For this reason many Bridgetown merchants became bottlers, including Martin Doorly who with his Macaw Rum became the most famous on the island and the first to be exported. Martin Doorly was a Bridgetown merchant who became a bottler in the early 1900s thanks to the Rum Duty Act. His Doorly's Macaw Rum became the first Barbadian rum to be exported.
Today Doorly's is the best-selling rum in Barbados and is distilled by the Foursquare Distillery.
The Foursquare distillery also has a line of highly aged premium rums distributed by Velier.
Currently Foursquare Distillery, its owner R.L. Seale, collaborate closely with Luca Gargano to create exceptional rums.
