Founded in 1753 in Trelawny, Hampden Estate is one of the oldest sugar cane processing companies in Jamaica and its products are characterized by total respect for the island's tradition.
Hampden Estate is a distillery in Trelawny County, founded in 1753, and is among the oldest in Jamaica, as well as among the best.
The distillery is known for its plots of land, the best in Jamaica, with one of the highest yields per hectare on the island.
The area in which the distillery is located, in fact, is characterized by incredible biodiversity, kilometers from Cockpit Country, an uncontaminated area where 26 native species of birds and the last crocodiles of Jamaica are found.
What makes its Rums special is the very close connection that the company has with the surrounding environment, which the Hampden Distillery tries to protect through a low-impact production path, combining tradition and modernity.
In 2018, after 265 years, the first official bottling was born. A very important milestone which is achieved with the release of its first official bottling, the first in the history of the distillery, thanks also to the collaboration with Velier.

Spring water
For all phases of production Hampden Estate uses only water from natural sources.
Water is supplied via its own mountain water collection system.
Natural fermentation
Extremely prolonged fermentation exclusively with natural yeasts. The production follows 18th century techniques, creating a very high level of esters which give an unmistakable aromatic profile, one of a kind.
Pot Still Distillation
Solo Pot Still 100% artisanal distillation in double copper retort stills. Hampden Estate is one of the last surviving distilleries that still uses batch distillation to produce its rums.
Tropical aging
Tropical aging, as Hampden Rums mature entirely in the tropics (7 years in Jamaica, in a tropical climate, is equivalent to more or less 25 years of aging in Europe).
"Sugar Free" NO Additives
No added sugars! “Hampden Pure single Rum” are produced, aged and bottled without additives. Without added sugars, tannins, caramel or glycerin: these rums are completely genuine and authentic, without anything artificial.
Hampden still uses exclusively copper stills, so all rums are produced with 100% pot-still distillation.
