It is not comparable to any rum that has ever been produced for sale. It was born from the intention of producing the best rum possible.

Luca Gargano, owner of Velier, talks about his Rhum Rhum like this: "I felt an ever stronger desire to produce a great rum, a rum from the past, distilled in Père Labat stills, which in 2000 could give the same sensations that I tried discovering the Saint James 1885 rum, bottled in Bordeaux in 1952, in a small warehouse in Saint Rose."

In 2005, Luca and Gianni go together to Marie Galante to meet Dominique Thierry: a close dialogue begins between distillers with completely different mentalities and backgrounds, who however understand each other immediately, between a free dive and a chaudage in Grand- Bourg.

The dream begins to come true.

Rhum Rhum is the only rum in the world produced from pure fresh whole sugar cane juice, unlike other agricultural rhums, which dilute the cane juice by 50% with water to lower the sugar content.

Sugar cane, the result of still natural agriculture, is among the best in the world and includes old qualities that have now disappeared from the other Caribbean islands, in addition to the legendary B 47.259 and the prized canne rouge.

The cane juice is fermented in "cuves" at a controlled temperature for a time that varies between seven and nine days, and which will give Rhum Rhum an excellent richness and aromatic complexity.

The fermented must is then distilled twice by Gianni Capovilla; a first simple distillation and a second review, which eliminates the heads and tails.

The distillation takes place in two copper stills, in a bain-marie, designed by Capovilla and made in Germany by the craftsman Müller.

Before bottling, the white rum rests for a year in stainless steel containers, while the product destined for aging is left to refine in 228 liter French barrels.

Today the Rhum Rhum range features Blanc PMG 56°, considered the best agricultural rhum in the world by Whiskey Magazine, the most authoritative magazine in Europe on spirits.

The new blend is aged half in Burgundy barrels and in Bordeaux barrels.

The same blend is present in only 1420 bottles also in the full proof version, at 59.8° which is expressed with a different and more explosive aroma.

It's called the Integral Version, which evokes Maestro Capovilla's racing and past as a mechanic.
