Hendrick’s Gin. A name that in every gin lover arouses persuasive memories and evenings spent between gin and tonic.
We are dealing with an artisanal bottle, a distillate produced in small quantities, born from a double distillation.
From the great experience of Scottish distillers, Gin Hendrick's is born. Certainly not in the place of usual gin production, the Hendrick's distillery took up the challenge focusing above all on tradition and quality.
The origin of the name can be attributed to the translation from the ancient Welsh of the word "cucumber" (Hendruscks), used to accompany the alcoholic. It is produced in Scotland starting from the Carter Head alembic in 1948 and the Bennet Still from 1860. In 1966 the owner of William Grant & Sons purchased these collectible stills and in 1988, together with Lesley Gracie, he decided to use them to create a gin different from those on the market.
The production process of this gin has two distinct phases, one for each still:
Carter Head alembic: the first distillation phase is carried out in the Carter Head alembic, which is filled for half of its capacity. Pour alcohol into the cereal and water at 55 degrees. In this way the vapors rise, and become impregnated by going through the basket where the spices are placed.
Bennet Still alembic: the second distillation phase takes place in the Bennet Still alembic, where the botanical essences are immersed in the gin. The mixture obtained is combined with the previous one, then cucumber and rose essences are added.
The result is a sophisticated, enveloping gin full of floral references, citrus, cucumber and resins, but you will feel it soft on the palate.
The production of the Hendrick's takes place for very small 450 liter batches, so as to be able to better control all the characteristics and obtain the highest possible quality. The attention is also noted in the details, such as the capping which instead of being the classic screw cap is made of cork. You can look for a gin like this everywhere, but it is impossible to find it the same.
It is a gin that once tried is never forgotten, thanks to the atypical choice of botanicals, which includes the classic juniper and pepper of course, but also cucumber and rose petals.
