Located by the sea in Tain, in the bay of Dornoch, it is surrounded by an ideal microclimate for the maturation of whiskey.

The distillery is very attentive to the selection of raw materials, all of the highest quality, and usually only a third of the distillate comes

Glenmorangie produces some of the most “Mediterranean” Single Malts from the northern and windy Scottish Highlands.

The distillery is universally known for the particular "giraffe neck" shape of its stills, 5.14 meters high, the highest in Scotland and built on the model of the first two purchased by the company back in 1843, when a former brewery was converted into a distillery by William Matheson.

The stills, particularly high, allow the production of a soft and delicate distillate, despite the use of a fairly hard water, rich in calcium and magnesium, coming from the nearby Tarlogie springs, where it flows constantly at 4 ° C and is sampled and checked at least twice a week.

However, it is in the stone warehouse, next to the distillery, that Glenmorangie acquires its many characteristics, thanks to the skilful work with special barrels of different origins.

Currently the distillery uses 6 types: Nectar d'Or (Sauternes barrels), La Santa (Sherry barrels), Finealta (American white oak and Sherry barrels), Sonnalta PX (Pedro Ximenez barrels), Artein (barrels of Super Tuscan) and Quinta Ruban (Porto barrels).

The distillery is very attentive to the selection of raw materials, all of the highest quality, and usually only one third of the distillate is brought to maturity by the legendary "16 Men of Tain", now 90 due to production needs.

Among its excellent products, the 18 year old Single Malt won the gold medal for Best Highland Single Malt 2015 at the World Whiskeys Awards.

Those of Glenmorangie are Highland Single Malt that will surprise you by reminding you of the sea: the Mediterranean.
