Everclear has been producing Moonshine distillate since the early 1900s.

Legal in the United States since 2010, “moonshine” is defined as an unaged white whiskey, usually made from corn, its main ingredient.

 The moonshines come mainly from the United States of America and the Everclear distillery is no exception to the rule.

 Moonshine, despite popular belief, did not originate during Prohibition: after the Civil War the whiskey tax was imposed for war funding and for this reason the poor farmers built stills in the woods, particularly in the Appalachian mountains, and started the whiskey distillation at night.

Hence the name moonshine.

These distillates are traditionally marketed in glass containers similar to jam jars, this is because the size and transparency made it possible to evaluate the alcohol content.
