Hence their philosophy - Rest & Be Thankful is not only the name of beautiful places both in Scotland and, they would discover a few years later, in Jamaica; the name conjures up images of the fearless toils and efforts of the past, and the joy and gratitude felt when the work was done.

Rest & Be Thankful has been an independent bottler since 2012, and after impressing with their Scotch Whiskey selections, they are now starting from scratch with a new line of Jamaican Rums.

Rest & Be Thankful is the name of one of the most suggestive points that one crosses when driving from Glasgow on the A83, going to take the Ferry that leads to the island of Islay.

For years, when they represented the Bruichladdich distillery before it was sold to the Rémy group, the founders of the company had been amazed by the beauty of the place, and wondered what was behind that evocative name.

The answer is in a stone inscription made by soldiers as they completed construction of the old military road in 1753; a road leading out of Glen Croe, and which was so long and steep that it was a tradition for travelers to rest at its highest point, enjoying the beauty of the scenery.

Upon hearing this story, as they were laying the groundwork to launch a new brand as independent bottlers, they realized there couldn't be a better name for their whiskeys and rums - they just should be savored and enjoyed slowly, and evoke that sense of "Rest and Be Thankful", Rest & Be Thankful in fact.

Hence their philosophy - Rest & Be Thankful is not only the name of beautiful places both in Scotland and, they would discover a few years later, in Jamaica; the name conjures up images of the fearless toils and efforts of the past, and the joy and gratitude felt when the work was done.

Rest & Be Thankful precisely wants to harness this spirit: to be courageous and savor the satisfaction of a job well done.

But this is pure, abstract philosophy: then there is also the liquid, the distillate, which is what interests us the most.

After a few years of only bottling Whiskey, R&BT is now launching its line of Rums, exclusively Jamaican given the connection with the island given by the presence of a hill called Rest & Be Thankful...

The range includes various single casks, which bear on the label all the information necessary to guarantee maximum transparency: obviously the Mark, the age, the date of distillation and bottling, the type of fermentation, of distillation, the volatile substances, the level of esters, the Angel's share and the type of ripening, continental or tropical.

In addition to this, here is the presence of Small Batch, a limited edition but with a larger circulation than a single cask: the 2022 edition is a splendid Monymusk from 2012, a combination of 24 barrels aged 9 years and bottled at 46%.

While awaiting the release of the new range of Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the link between Whiskey and Rum is already evident from the beautiful labels: in the bottles of Rum, in fact, you will see some elements that are not exactly tropical, such as Pulicinelle di mare or Tartan dresses for leopards... Who knows, something similar can also be seen on whiskey bottles!
