List of products by brand Masahiro Okinawa gin distillery

Masahiro Distillery has been located on the southern tropical island of Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan since 1883.

His father-Shozoku Higa (the master cook of the Ryuku Kingdom) had an established reputation in the Ryuku Kingdom. And it was awarded the license for Awamori (rice liquor).

And the Masahiro Distillery has been renowned for its brewing techniques, thoughtful qualities and passion for innovation for over 100 years.

Their expertise lies in Awamori, the traditional Okinawan spirit, so it is only natural that the first Okinawan craft gin is produced from an Awamori base.

Botanicals include rosellas (from the hibiscus family), guava leaves, and long pepper, but the most interesting addition is goya, the bumpy green Okinawan bitter melon. At 47% ABV, it's full of floral flavors, tropical fruit, and green notes of bitter melon.

Awamori is made with long grain Thai rice that is inoculated with koji black mold, fermented, and then distilled.

Masahiro Awamori undergoes "hybrid distillation": two Awamori are distilled - one from a horizontal still, the other from a vertical still - and blended.

Using this "hybrid distillation" technique and five unique Okinawan botanicals (+juniper) comes a truly tropical and terroir-driven gin.

In recent years, the Masahiro distillery has also produced some interesting Japanese whiskeys, in collaboration with the Helios distillery, the Kura.

Kura whiskey is a premium blended Japanese whiskey with different barrel finishes, a whiskey much appreciated by enthusiasts for its balance.
