The Vecchio Magazzino Doganale is a production company active in Calabria, in Montalto Uffugo in the province of Cosenza, born from the creative mind of Ivan Trombino, a Calabrian entrepreneur expert in biotypes of the various native plants that grow in this area.
Ivan, during the various vicissitudes that influenced his life, accidentally came across a piece of correspondence from which emerged a recipe for the creation of a bitter, written in the first person by his grandfather Egidio, who emigrated to the United States of America to seek fortune.
An interesting story is that of Egidio, who tells, in this sort of diary, how, returning to Calabria by ship, the entire crew together with its captain, Jefferson, due to a storm, were thrown into the sea for an entire Night.
Only the next day was land seen, in correspondence with a building in the distance, an old customs warehouse where the entire crew, once they reached the beach, were welcomed by a local family.
After a few days, in which Egidio and his friends had the opportunity to recover from the strong scare, Captain Jefferson announced his intention to remain in Calabria, to dedicate himself to the production of a bitter, a product which is still one of the symbols of the entire range today. created by the Old Customs Warehouse.
Ivan, after learning this incredible story from his grandfather's diaries, decided to bring this bitter back into vogue, calling it "Important" and dedicating it to Captain Jefferson, alongside him, over the years, with other creations, all born from a skilful selection of ingredients grown within this area of Calabria.
