The meeting and friendship born with Velier thanks to their help in Haiti to bottle Clairins were decisive for the start of this new project, which aims to bring discontinuous distillation back to the country.
Providence is a rum distilled from Cristalline sugar cane syrup from the grand terroir of Saint Michel de l'Attalaye, obtained by reduction over an open fire.
From the collaboration with the Linge-Barbancourt family who constitute the last direct branch of the Barbancourt family, a deep friendship with Luca Gargano was born, outside however of the distillery which inherited the name from that family.
Thus was born the idea of bringing discontinuous distillation rum back to Haiti and building a micro-distillery in their complex.
Here, using a Muller still, pure Cristalline cane juice is distilled and Providence rum is born, aged in the warehouses created in the same place.
Providence is produced by Herbert Linge, son of Jane Barbancourt, whose story is told in Luca Gargano's book, Nomad between the Barrels (Edizioni Velier, 2019).
Immediately after the war, Jane marries a German perfume expert, Rudolf Linge, who fled Nazi Germany, and the two decide to produce rum together.

The concentrated juice is transported to the Distillerie de Port Au Prince to be added to the fresh cane juice.
First Drops is the first version of Providence, which contains rums obtained from different types of fermentation, more or less short, to pass to a bain-marie distillation in a discontinuous copper still, built by German Muller in collaboration with Gianni Vittorio Capovilla, one one of the largest ever produced by Muller, with a capacity of 3000 litres.
It is equipped with a main boiler and a small column of 8 plates, of which Herbert Linge uses only 6.
