The Isle of Raasay

Inhabited by just 161 people, the Isle of Raasay ("Roe Isle" in Old Norse) is located off the west coast of Scotland among the Inner Hebridean Islands, a 25-minute ferry ride from the Isle of Sky.

This little corner of the world is famous for its breathtaking natural beauty, the wonderful panorama, the impressive morphology of the land and the incredible ecosystem.

The first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay.

Since the Prohibition era, the Isle of Raasay has offered the ingredients for the perfect glass.

Illicit distillation is said to have spread to the Isle of Raasay in the 1850s, as evidenced by an archaeological discovery of the ruins of an illegal distillation structure which still stands on the island.

Co-founded by Scottish entrepreneur Bill Bobble and qualified whiskey blender and botanist Alasdair Day, The Isle of Raasay Distillery created its first spirit in 2017.

After three years, the first cask legally became a Scotch, marking an important milestone in the island's history with its first legal distillery.

The production is the result of the combination of peated (48-52 ppm) and non-peated spirits. Most of the barley is grown directly on Raasay and is subsequently sent to the mainland for floor malting.

All of the distillery's Single Malts are distilled, aged and bottled on the island.
