The Cinque Terre distillery is a story that starts from afar, was born, grows and develops in a magnificent place: the Cinque Terre and Liguria.
Ancient recipes, authentic tastes.
The Sangallo Distilleria delle Cinque Terre is a family-run artisan company founded in 1964 in San Salvatore di Cogorno, currently based in San Colombano Certenoli, province of Genoa.
It produces Ligurian liqueurs and spirits following their ancient recipes. From Limoncino Cinque Terre, to the typical Luisa and Basil herb liqueurs, passing through the cream and fruit liqueurs, each flavor is a real discovery.
The bitters are produced according to artisanal methods from the infusion and distillation of herbs and natural essences and preserve the healing virtues of the plants, their aromas and flavors.
The recipes of liqueurs and grappas, which generations have jealously guarded, hide from the passion and careful research of the ingredients.
Over the years, the product most loved by the public has proven to be Amaro Camatti, so much so that production has increased tenfold in just a few years and, while maintaining strong roots in the territory of origin, the amaro is currently exported to America, Oceania and various European nations.
The original recipe for Amaro Camatti was born in 1924 in the Ligurian town of Recco, thanks to the Livorno chemist Umberto Briganti who, together with his brother Cesare, started the first production of the liqueur, baptizing it with his wife's surname.
The success was immediate, so much so that in 1935 the company producing Amaro Camatti was named "Supplier to the house of His Royal Highness the Prince of Piedmont". Things continued to go well even after the war; in 1964, then Umberto Briganti disappeared and left his inheritance to his son Cesare.
In the same years, Giovanni Bergamino also began working at the Ballerini factory in Lavagna, engaged in the production of artisanal liqueurs. It was he who acquired the Camatti brand in 1989.
Today, Amaro Camatti is entrusted to the care of Stefano Bergamino and Marco De Marchi, who keep the secret recipe. The selection of ingredients is of great importance for its production: among the components revealed are almond, cinchona, mint, gentian and bitter orange. Every single herb, flower and aromatic root is infused and macerated individually, to respect its characteristics.
