List of products by brand Delamain Cognac
Delamain, which with its 200 years is a piece of history of world spirits, is considered the Nobless of Cognac.
The Delamain winery can boast a history of excellent Cognacs well rooted over time and centuries, with the first bottles produced as far back as 1600.
The passion for the most exceptional cognacs has been handed down in the family since 1759, the year in which James Delamain, originally from Ireland, established himself as a merchant in Jarnac. In 1824, his nephew Henri Delamain founded the Maison Delamain. The Maison near the Charente river in the department of the same name located north of Bordeaux has 80,500 hectares of vineyards, 266 merchants, 120 distillers, 4,200 winemakers, 60,000 people live from Cognac, 17,000 live from direct work. For about 20 years it has welcomed the Bollinger family who became part of the Maison Delamain and today presides over the fortunes of the company. The two families are perpetuating history together always with the aim of being "guardians of time in Grande Champagne"
In fact, it selects spirits coming exclusively from the "Grande Champagne" denomination, thanks to the composition of the soils rich in calcareous and chalky elements, with excellent ability to conserve humidity in the deep layers, with great wealth of marine sediments. Compared to the others, it adopts its own specifications which go beyond those imposed by the denomination, in fact for the foreseen by the regulations at Delamain's 40. Another detail not to be underestimated is that of the absence of any addition of sugar and caramel, the alcohol content, which cannot fall below 40%, is not mixed with water but "enriched", when the alcohol content is diluted, which cannot go below 40%, not from plain water, but from selections (fiables) of old cognacs. There is such attention and respect for this product that the bottles are "wet" with the same Cognac before being packaged. It can be defined as a family-run artisan Maison for the attention and quality of the products. The spirits are therefore entrusted to the care of Dominique Touteau, the cellar master who has been present for around 40 years, and the Maison uses exclusively old French oak barrels. Nine liters of wine produce 1 liter of Cognac which is distilled in the so-called Charentais direct-fire copper still with a discontinuous cycle. Woods with dense fibers limit the supply of tannins in favor of fruitier flavors with unique nuances. This process allows the original finesse of Delamain Cognac to be preserved, but in exchange involves a much longer aging period, in cellars, which are alternately humid, ventilated, cool and/or temperate. These particular conditions give life to a Cognac that continues to follow the rhythm of the vine, decades later. The grapes used are 98% Ugni Blanc, the rest is Folle Blanche, Colombard.
The Delamains are among the longest-standing producers of Cognac in the Grande Champagne area, to the point that they have managed to carry on the family business through a thousand transformations and revolutions, for more than three centuries.
The long and exceptional aging to which Delamain distillates are subjected, in the constant search to enhance the best qualities inherent in Cognac, constitutes one of the key factors that distinguishes the Delamain family's production from those of other maisons.
All products labeled Delamain originate from pomace coming from Grande Champagne, the beating heart of Charente, as well as the most valuable area of the entire area classified as a designation of origin.
