Chacom
The discovery of briar for the production of pipes has a precise date and place: Saint-Claude, mid-nineteenth century.
It is in the French district of the Jura that the production of the briar pipe begins, which will bring the French pipes, and immediately after the Italian ones, to excel in all the markets.
One of the companies that started the Briar revolution is Comoy, from which Chacom was born, through a "satellite" company wanted by Henry Comoy in London.
The Chacom brand was born in 1828, using the first three letters of Comoy and the Chapuis families.
Soon this brand imposed itself not only on the Anglo-Saxon market, but also in the "French internal" one (from 1946 Chacom became the best-selling brand in France), gradually imposing itself on all the other markets held by Comoy and quickly becoming the leading brand of French pipes in the world.
Chacom is still today among the best known brands of French tobacco pipes, among other models it is the manufacturer of the famous Chacom-Maigret pipe.
