Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob
Directly from Missouri U.S.A. the famous corn cob pipe!
Missouri has long been known as the "Corn Cob Pipe Capital of the world" and the Missouri Meerschaum Company, is still the oldest and largest manufacturer of corn cob pipes in the world.
In 1869 Henry Tibbe, began producing the corn cob pipe.
Legend has it that a local farmer cut a pipe from a corn cob and liked it so much that he asked Henry Tibbe to try turning the cob on a lathe.
The farmer was very pleased with his pipes, so Henry made more and put them on sale in his shop.
In 1907, H. Tibbe & Son Co. became the Missouri Meerschaum Company.
The name Missouri “Meerschaum” was coined by Tibbe because he compared the lightness and cooling qualities of the smoke of his pipes to the much more expensive meerschaum pipes of Turkish origin.
Missouri Meerschaum pipe is iconic: smooth straw yellow semi-curved model classic billiard type with yellow plastic mouthpiece. The pipe is very cheerful and casual with an original line that over time has become a classic.
