Sailor Jerry Collins, born Norman Keith, in 1911 was the most famous tattoo artist of all time.
He traveled all over the world visiting Japan in the twenties to learn the sacred art of tattooing and opened his own shop in Honolulu in the thirties, tattooing sailors with his unique designs.
Looking through his personal notes and his vast collection of tattoos, the original recipe for his personal rum was found, prepared with aged Caribbean rum and the addition of five spices including ginger, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and an infusion of lime.
In 2007, William Grant & Sons bought the formula from Sailor Jerry's heirs and recreated this unique spiced rum that is a cult among surfers around the world.
