The Inga family, originally from the province of Syracuse, founded in 1832 the Gambarotta.

In 1938 Gaetano Inga, after moving the company to Alexandria, changed his social name to "Distillerie Inga", which in 1958 came back to Gambarotta.
In 1978 the company was divided into two parts: Gambarotta and Distillerie Inga.
The latter produced grappa, brandy and liquor until recently.
The distillation was carried out with both traditional copper, steam vapor, and a direct continuous steam cycle.
The grapes were mainly from Piedmont and Oltrepo Pavese.

Now Lorenzo Inga produces high-class distillates including the famous Panarea Gin, considered among the best London dry gin in the world.

All natural Panarea gin is produced with Mediterranean botanicals of the Aeolian Islands.
