Arran has become famous for being among the first distilleries to experiment with the use of unusual barrels: this Amarone finish quickly became one of the most popular among enthusiasts around the world.
This Arran single malt Amarone cask finish in the last two years has been matured eight years in new barrels and then in barrels previously used for amarone.
Arran's Master Distiller, James MacTaggart, has carefully monitored this single malt for all its finish, to ensure the perfect balance between the classic sweet-fruity Arran and the qualities of Amarone.
The result is a sweet and fruity whiskey with the classic Arran style.
Whiskey Arran Amarone Cask on the nose is initially sweet with notes of dried fruit, vanilla and toffee, continuing deepening with notes of caramelized fruit.
On the palate Arran Amarone Cask whiskey starts fresh but soon turns into notes of warm toffee, apples and hazelnuts with hints of milk chocolate and spiced biscuits. The finish is moderately persistent with notes of cinnamon, licorice and pineapple.
An exceptional Arran Single malt whiskey is born!
The Arran Amarone Finish fully confirms what has been said, taking 94.5 points out of 100 from Jim Murray in his 2015 Whiskey Bible.
