From Colombia a real treasure is the gin aged in ex-rum Ortodoxy barrels by Dictador.
Aged gin with intense and herbaceous aromas that conquers at the first sip.
The work done by the ex rum barrels, the native botanicals generate in this gin an intimate fusion of a wonderful new generation of gin for both beginners and connoisseurs.
It is based on the formula of Dario Parra, former president of the company, and a lover of gin.
After his many extended visits to the UK he returned to Colombia determined to create a Colombian Gin.
Back home he studied different formulas, based on his experience, for years it was produced only for his own personal consumption, never dreamed that his gin could one day be sold internationally.
The formula of berries, vegetables, peels, roots and spices gives Ortodoxy gin a unique taste profile.
The basic spirit for Colombian Ortodoxy Gin is made from a neutral spirit distilled up to five times from sugar cane.
The berries, vegetables, spices and citrus peels when combined with the aging process come together to create this unique Colombian Gin.
To give an extraordinary softness to Gin Ortodoxy the white spirit is aged for 35 weeks in oak barrels previously used to age the rum Dictador 20 years.
The combination of the exotic botanicals and the time spent in ex rum barrels gives our freshness and softness necessary to be able to savor with a few ice cubes.
Tasting Notes:

Aromas: The nose shows a balance of the bitterness of the roots, the freshness of the vegetables, the bittersweet of berries and peels, and the warmth of spices. The initial aroma is of juniper and angelica in combination with mint, lemon and pepper. The secondary aromas of cinnamon, blueberry and ginger blend to create a classic dry gin.
Taste: it is sapid and soft, with the astringency, sweet and sour of classic gin. At 43% alcohol, this gin blends well with a wide range of tonic waters.
