The Glendronach distillery, located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, is famous for its whiskey aged in ex sherry barrels.
Engaging, soft and tasty whiskey!
Glendronach means valley of brambles in Gaelic.
In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice founded the distillery and began producing his single malt Guid GlenDronach.
Over the years, the distillery he created has thrived under the guidance of forward-looking investors such as Walter Scott in 1847 and Captain Charles Grant in 1920.
Located near the town of Huntley, in the eastern part of Speyside, this distillery uses traditional production methods (malting which includes the partial use of a peat oven and stills heated by direct fire), which largely explains the powerful character and strong personality of his Single Malt.
It has always been a very rich blend, left to age in sherry barrels which reveal a perfect balance between barley malt and notes of berries.
