Dictador 12 year old rum is a Colombian rum produced by fermenting pure cane juice, distilled partly with steel column stills and partly with copper discontinuous stills.
This use of discontinuous stills allows for a medium-bodied rum to be obtained.
It is aged in oak barrels using the Solera method.
The Solera method “rotates” different rums between 8 and 14 years, with a final average of 12.
The rum is then diluted in the bottle with demineralized water and then left to rest for a period of 28 days.
With an amber topaz color, tending towards red, the nose is dominated by warm notes of roasted coffee beans, vanilla cream, caramel, candied fruit and honey, the latter aroma then extending to the palate, adding to flavors of exotic fruit, coconut, wood and pepper.
The finish is soft but persistent, slightly woody, spicy and with hints of chestnuts and dried fruit.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Amber with reddish tones.
Aroma: Sweet and intense, of honey, caramel and roasted coffee.
Taste: Soft and rounded, with aromas of cocoa, honey and coffee.
You can pair the Dictator 12 year rum with Cuban cigars.
Winner of a double gold in 2013 in Orlando and a gold in Moscow and Las Vegas in 2012, the Dictador 12 year rum is a balanced and richly flavored rum, not at all predictable.
