The GleAllachie 12 years of the "Virgin Oak" series is the most ethereal but high quality single malt of the Scottish distillery, entirely aged in new American Chinquapin oak barrels.
The "Virgin oak whiskey Glenallachie" series is a small limited edition, born from the selection of the best oak barrels from all over Europe and the world.
GlenAllachie's 12 year old single malt Scotch whiskey "Virgin Chinquapin oak finish", released in mid-2020 after Billy Walker took over the distillery in 2017 and began his Glenallachie whiskey refining experiments.
This exceptional GlenAllachie malt gets its complex, tangy flavors from Chinquapin oak casks (Quercus Muehlenbergii) sourced from the northern Ozark region of Missouri.
Chinquapin is a subspecies of Quercus Alba and offers spicy flavors and aromas.
Air-dried for almost four years, then roasted at medium level, these barrels give us the perfect balance between the spirit and character of the wood.
The GlenAllachie distillery was born in the thirties in the verdant Scottish valley of Speyside, whose ownership has been handed down from father to son making it, to this day, an independent reality much loved by whiskey fans.
So much so that the GlenAllachie distillery is pointed out as the future legendary distillery of the 21st century on a par with and in competition with Springbank.
The name GlenAllachie derives from the Gaelic "gleann aileachaidh" and can be translated as the "valley of the rocks". Despite its young age (it was founded in 1967) and some periods in "mothballs" the distillery has a base of 40 thousand barrels, barrels that have been carefully selected for the production of this single malt.
A peculiarity to distill GlenAllachie whiskeys and no pumps are used to avoid traumatizing the fermented and the distillate!
The GlenAllachie 12 Years Old Chinquapin oak finish is a limited edition from the new distillery.
The result is a delicious, delicate, ethereal and elegant Single Malt.
