A. de Fussigny is a company based in France, in the Cognac region, specifically on the banks of the Charente River.
The proximity to the river offers, according to the description provided by the manufacturers, the ideal conditions for humidity and maturation of Cognac.
The intent of Fussigny is to produce high quality Cognac, trying to stand out in the vast panorama of the producers of this distillate.
The production range is made up of two ranges: Creation and Collection.
Creation find space in the range of products which, normally, have place also in production range of other distillers, ergo those not of vintage single compounds from a blend with a minimum of aging of years depending on the denomination: V.S. , V.S.O.P and X.O.
Cognac A. de Fussigny is a X.O., acronym for Extra Old, and consists of a blend of cognac divided as follows: 60% Petite Champagne, Fins Bois 30%, 10% Grande Champagne.
Cognac A. de Fussigny Xoi is not given to know the exact age but, being an XO, the youngest cognac contained in the blend may not be less than six years of age while the average age should be placed between the 25 years.

 
Tasting notes:
Appearance: Amber, golden.
Nose: A rich and pleasant hint of red fruits such as blackberries, currants and cherries fills the nostrils, followed by dark chocolate and a delicate but intense aroma of plums. There is also a discreet trace of caramel combined with a pronounced hint of vanilla. Background, a pleasant and well-structured full wood aroma smell a very pleasant and intriguing!
Palate: Initial astringency and presence of toasted nuts such as walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts, then changes with softer tones and a return of the red fruits and plums. No shortage of honey traces, albeit slightly hinted, vanilla and chocolate milk is that dark. After a few minutes, it continues to evolve releasing notes of white pepper and nutmeg. The wood is still present, but it is absolutely pleasant and not invasive.
Final: Long and winding, mainly consisting of toasted nuts such as walnuts and hazelnuts without forgetting a hint of plums and a hint of licorice.
A.de Fussigny XO cognac is a good, well-structured and implemented.
