The Falcon pipe features a metal stem onto which removable briar bowls are screwed.

The Falcon gives a very cool and dry smoke due to its metal construction.

Falcon Pipes: Modular Innovation That Freshens Pipe Smoke

Falcon Pipes, a name that evokes history and engineering in the world of pipe smoking, is a brand that has distinguished itself since its creation in 1936.

Although the brand's roots are American, its production and distribution in the United Kingdom have become a crucial focus, now managed by BPM International (UK) Ltd.

The Falcon pipe was created in 1936 by American engineer Kenly Bugg. However, during World War II, Falcon production was limited.

In 1949, George Hunt took over production and marketing, and by 1954, 6 million Falcon pipes had been sold in the United States. Production began in 1961.

Success in Europe began in the 1960s, with production and supply gradually moving to the United Kingdom, specifically to Brentford, Middlesex, operated by The Falcon Pipe Group Ltd.

A key moment in the brand's British history occurred in July 2007, when Merton & Falcon Ltd. was acquired by BPM International (UK) Ltd., owned by Leo and Dean Osmond of Sydney, Australia.

Since then, BPM International (UK) Ltd. has assumed the role of distributor and brand manager in the United Kingdom, keeping the legacy and innovative design of Falcon pipes alive.

The Magic of the Falcon Modular System

The heart of Falcon pipes' appeal lies in their modular design and cooling system.

Lightweight Aluminum Stem: The stem is made of lightweight aluminum. This material not only makes the pipe comfortable to hold, but also acts as a heat sink, cooling the smoke much more effectively than a briar stem.

The "Humidome" (Moisture Dome): Under the briar bowl, the Falcon pipe features a small metal chamber, known as the humidome. When smoke is inhaled, excess vapor and moisture condense and collect in this chamber. The result is a significantly cooler, drier smoke, reducing the risk of tongue bite.

Interchangeable Heads: The briar bowl screws onto the shank. This feature allows smokers to have different heads (briar or meerschaum) for a single shank. Different tobaccos can be smoked without the flavors being affected, and more importantly, the briar bowl can be rested without having to wait for the entire pipe to cool completely.

When smoked, smoke is drawn through a hole in the bottom of the bowl into the metal humidome below, where the moisture collects, drying the smoke.

The smoke is then cooled as it passes through the metal shank.

Since the bowls are removable, they can be unscrewed during smoking to shake out the moisture and then screwed back on to continue smoking.

The Falcon, being primarily made of metal, is also easy to clean.

The bowl is removed and cleaned like any other briar pipe; the moisture can simply be removed with an alcohol-soaked cloth, and the stem can be cleaned with pipe cleaner like any other pipe.

Design Variations

In addition to the standard design with a twisted metal shank, several variations have been introduced:

Falcon International: Launched in 1977, this variant offers a more traditional look. Unlike the standard design, the International features a shank that can accommodate a 6mm filter, offering an even cleaner and smoother smoking experience.

Falcon Pipes UK is synonymous with engineered smoking, combining the tradition of briar with the modern efficiency of metal for an experience that stays consistently cool, dry and customizable.
