The distillery was built by Serafino Levi and was equipped, as it is today, with a direct fire, as we learn from one of the rare interviews released by his son Romano in 1991.

The death of parents under a bombing in 1945 was a tragic fact that struck Romano and Lidia Levi.
Romano Levi was then 17 years old and was a student at Alba. He decided to stop the studies and, with the help of his sister Lydia, continued the distillation.
The Levi's home-distillery is today a living and productive museum of Grappa, a true island of time, where the Genius Loci of Romano Levi lurks everywhere in art, in ways and in times of work, in objects simple and essential, in perfumes and in serenity. Distillery is always open to everyone, a bit more difficult is to find some bottles ready for sale, as the very small production capacity is unable to satisfy the demand coming from all over the world, but the connoisseurs know it, you enjoy the serenity of the place, do not get angry wait or try again with patience.
