Pintail Glenlossie 14 Year Old (distilled 2009) — aged in Picolit casks, an Italian fortified wine.

An elegant and unobtrusive single malt, born from the classic lightness of Glenlossie and enriched by a rare aging in casks that once held Picolit, the noble sweet wine from Friuli.

Aged in Picolit casks, Glenlossie boasts a Mediterranean sweetness and a warmer, juicier aromatic dimension than the brand's traditional expressions, making it a refined offering for those seeking a gentle yet distinctive single malt.

This 14-year-old Pintail Glenlossie whisky underwent initial maturation in a charred oak cask in 2009, followed by a second maturation in a cask that previously held Picolit wine.

The 288 bottles produced have an alcohol content of 56.4%.

Considered among the world's finest Scotch whiskies, it is a true rarity, both for the limited number of bottles produced and the cask used for maturation.

All well and good, but I bet you're wondering, "What is Picolit wine?"

Picolit is a sweet Italian wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, in the northeast of the country.

This wine, produced in very limited quantities, is rare and highly priced, similar in some respects to Sauternes.

Tasting notes of Picolit may include citrus zest, honey, dried apricots, peach, and floral notes.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Light amber with golden highlights, luminous.

Nose: Fruity and floral opening: white peaches, dried apricots, and dried figs, followed by notes of wildflower honey and rose petals. Underlying notes are creamy vanilla and a light spice (nutmeg). Hints of dried fruit and caramel in the background, derived from the Picolit influence.

Taste: Silky and smooth, with a medium body. The fruity flavors become richer: apricot in syrup, candied fruit, honey, and a delicate orange marmalade. The wine's sweetness integrates without overpowering, giving way to light biscuity notes, vanilla, and a floral finish. The wood is present but well-balanced, with sweet tannins and a hint of bitter almond.

Finish: Medium-long, warm, and enveloping: lingering notes of honey, dried fruit, and a hint of candied citrus, with a subtle spicy finish that closes the palate.
