Grappa Poli Elevata in Barili Di Sassicaia Vol.40% Cl.50

Poli Grappa di Sassicaia, made starting from fresh pomace of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon distilled with the discontinuous copper still with steam boilers.

This grappa, after 4 years of aging in oak barrels, underwent elevation (or, if you prefer, refinement) in barrels that previously housed the well-known SuperTuscan Sassicaia wine for a period of 6 months.

Marketed in an elegant package, it is a 50 cl bottle.

The grappas matured in Porto, Rhum, Torcolato, Sherry PX and Sauternes barrels also belong to the same series, in addition to the Poli Barriques and the two Amorosa di Settembre and Amorosa di December.

Appearance : Straw Yellow

Smell: Poli Grappa di Sassicaia It opens with a delicate and fresh floral scent composed of field flowers, daisies and freshly cut grass. A note of toasted dried fruit then emerges, mainly almonds but also walnuts. There is also a hint of toasted hazelnut that heralds the introduction of licorice and a hint of coffee.

In the background, elegant vanilla that blends with "gentle" and non-invasive wood. Poli Grappa di Sassicaia Very intriguing.

Palate: Marked winy scent, attributable to the elevation in sassicaia barrels: in fact, it presents cherries in alcohol which are then accompanied by toasted almonds and a delicate woody scent.

Poli Grappa di Sassicaia medium body, not particularly complex, however overall well structured and blended.

Finish: Averagely long with return of wood and vinous notes but also and above all of toasted dried fruit. A hint of coffee closes it all.

This Grappa di Sassicaia is an interesting experiment: an overall elegant and well-structured grappa, with good personality and distinctive traits.

I suggest it in combination with a Christmas dessert, especially panettone.
