Coffey Nikka Gin is produced in Japan by distilling grains using a traditional Scottish Coffey still and infusing them with Sansho pepper and a variety of Japanese citrus fruits.
Coffey Nikka Gin is the innovative spirit produced at the Miyagiko distillery in Japan: the gin destined to rewrite the history of gin worldwide due to its unique characteristics.
It is the result of extensive experimentation by Japanese producers with the Coffey column still, created in 1830 and imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963.
This still was used to produce smooth, velvety, and light whiskies—the Nikka Coffey vintage whiskies highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts.
The Coffey still is currently used to distill barley and corn for gin production.
Thanks to the brilliant intuition of master distiller Tadashi Sakuma, a filter for the spices and botanicals of the gin has been added to the distiller.
Nikkay Coffey Gin is made from 11 different botanicals, including Japanese citrus fruits such as yuzu, kabosu, amanatsu, and shikuwasa, sansho pepper, apple juice, and other traditional botanicals such as juniper, angelica, coriander, lemon peel, and orange peel.
The unique column distillation technique, using the traditional Coffey still, contributes to the spirit's remarkable smoothness and enveloping flavor.
Thus, the Nikka distillery, after revolutionizing the world of quality whisky, has established itself with this innovative spirit, which has immediately met with great success among bartenders and gin tasters.
We recommend enjoying the new Nikka gin neat, on the rocks, or paired with other ingredients in cocktails.
