The new multi-millesimo rum from the JM Martinican distillery is born.
Rhum Dane Jeanne batch 2 from the J.M distillery is a blend of aged Rhum, cask strength, with an average age between 8 and 22 years.
Karine Lassalle, J.M master blender, has selected some Rhums from the most valuable vintages from the distillery's reserve.
The small J.M distillery was founded in 1845 in the north-east of the island of Martinique and has gained worldwide fame throughout its existence.
This top "Rhum Agricole" is distilled exclusively from the pure fermented sugar cane juice of its own lands, perched on the slopes of the volcano and facing the equator.
This allows for better maturation of the sugar cane.
The canes, harvested mechanically, are ground to extract the sugary juice, the "vesou".
This is then left to ferment, then it is distilled with a historic column still.
The rum j.m. it is then aged in its own Limousin oak barrels and mixed with spring water from the forest, a natural park that surrounds the Martinique volcano.
The Contrôlée Martinique denomination means that it is a rum without additions, such as sugar or caramel, and the strict controls of the European Community apply to this controlled denomination.
Here are the vintages selected by master blender Karine Lassalle to compose the Dane Jeanne batch 2 multi-vintage rum from the J.M. distillery.
Vintage:
2000 (22 years old, 19.5%, US Bourbon oak barrel),
2001 (21 year old, 15.3%, US Bourbon oak barrel),
2013 (9 years, 34.8%, FR Hydrodinamique oak barrel),
2014 (8 years, 7.8%, FR Tremeaux M oak barrel),
2014 (8 years, 7.5%, FR Tremeaux M+ oak barrels),
2014 (8 years, 15.1%, US occasion brulès++ oak barrels).
Very few bottles were produced for this J.M Dame Jeanne rum, only 2500 bottles.
The design is no different, the bottle is a reproduction of a Dame Jeanne in the colors of Rhum J.M (previously used in the distillery to store old rums that have reached 10 years of age) accompanied by a wooden case.
The demijohns were used to store the rum aged at the Fonds-Préville distillery.
This J.M. rum multimillesimo Dane Jeanne batch 2 perfectly expresses the incomparable typical of JM rums: dominant flavors spices, pepper, coriander, ginger bread, but also small notes of vanilla ...
On the palate, this rum has exceptional balance and complexity: a medium fruity attack, full and spicy palate, vanilla, cocoa pralines and a slightly smoky finish.
Tasting Notes:
Color: a beautiful amber dress.
Nose: First, under the charm of the delicate fruit notes in the brandy, we succumb to the combined alliance of vanilla, cocoa and mocha.
Mouth: We are seduced by the flavors of roasted coffee, complemented by gourmet notes of toast on a woody background. At the end you can perceive a thin hint of tobacco.
Finish: a finish that reinforces the toasted, woody and jammy notes.
